David Eichenberger

I am free when I paint, free of bills, my job, and life’s heavy burdens. It makes me feel like a kid again, sitting on the floor of my mother’s living room drawing whatever comes to mind.  This feeling of innocence is what I try to capture when I make art.

In our lives we spend too much time planning for the future, even more time regretting the past.  We are trying to hard to grow up and take life seriously.  We are told what to do, get a job, get married and have kids.  Through these choices we lose our innocence, our ability to imagine, to play and to be illogical.  In my paintings I try to allow the viewer to remember their childhood and not take life so serious.
